From the firm foundations of Twyfords Cafe (opened in 1996) in the heart of Beccles, Suffolk, small batch coffee roasting was introduced, and Harris & James was born. This successful foray into quality bean roasting led us onto cacao beans which we sustainably sourced along with our coffee beans, directly from farms and co-operatives around the globe. Our experience and great results led us to a new site locally, allowing us to further develop our range of hand crafted products to include patisserie and gelato, all made with love, superior ingredients and incredible attention to detail.

We ethically source the finest quality organic beans whilst safeguarding that the partnerships enjoyed with the cacao farmers and co-operatives are more than fair trade.

Our small batch bean to bar process ensures that these superior cacao beans are slow roasted and handcrafted to create a truly exceptional calibre of chocolate, truffles and drinking chocolate – since 2019, we have been awarded a total of 11 prestigious Great Taste Awards for our top quality products.

As staunch supporters of ethically grown and farmed coffee, we select only the finest beans which are then pan roasted in small batches to achieve the very best flavour possible. All beans are ground to order and shipped as soon as possible to guarantee the freshest of brews.

Award-winning GELATO in a myriad of imaginative flavours

Made with only the finest ingredients, and lower in fat and sugar than traditional ice cream. Our gelato is incredibly silky and very moreish. The proof is in the queues that can be seen outside our stores.

Our extensive range of flavours include our evermore popular salted caramel and award-winning chocolate gelato (made with our own bean to bar chocolate).

Handmade by a highly skilled and experienced team in our very own artisan bakery using top quality ingredients, the depth of offering is second to none. And again, consideration has also been given to those with special dietary requirements so that no one needs to be excluded.
