Monday – Saturday 10:00AM -5:00PM

Wednesday CLOSED

Sunday 10:00AM – 4:00PM

Tearoom

In April 2019 we converted our outdoor office space into a small cosy tearoom with a nice homely feel to it all of the food is home made and made freshly to order. All our cakes are baked fresh on the day and we serve illy coffee.

We are currently on with converting one of our big barns into a two story tearoom which will seat 120 people.

Animal Park & play barn

In April 2019 we converted our back barn into an indoor animal park along with fencing some outdoor paddocks to the back of the barn. We did this so that members of the public could come to the farm and enjoy a hands on experience with the animals feeding, holding, brushing, stroking and even bottle feed the animals. We also created an indoor play barn and an outdoor play area.

Pumpkins

October is always the busiest time of the year for us at the farm we open up to the public to come and pick there own pumpkins out of our pumpkin fields.

Christmas

Each year we sell thousands of real Christmas trees as well as potted trees, mistletoe, holly, holly wreaths, Christmas pots and much more. Our Christmas trees are all on display in our Christmas tree forest so that you can walk through them and hand pick your very own.

About us

As well as the local provenance of our food, drink and craft at Orton Farmer’s Market it’s all from within 50 miles and often much closer – there’s also a strong seasonal element. Shoppers are very conscious of the freshness, flavour and the changing seasons.

We also have lots of links into the local community and it feels as if the whole village is taking part, from the coffee morning and book sale up at church to the local cafes and businesses promoting market Saturday and the village school fundraising too. Visitors appreciate that atmosphere and, combined with local walks and scenery – Orton lies at the foot of Orton Scar, which is one of the few remaining limestone plateaux in the country, and the Howgill Fells – a distinctive cluster of hills that marks the boundary between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales – it’s a real foodie day out.

At Orton Farmers’ Market over 30 local farmers, growers, producers & artisan craftsmen offer a tremendous variety of high quality and speciality local produce and crafts.

Orton Farmers Market is a member of FARMA and we operate within their guidelines. The market is certified (by annual inspection) with FARMA credentials and run strictly in accordance with the farmers’ market principles. Orton Farmers’ Market is a third of the Eden Farmers Market Network.

Orton Farmers’ Market defines local as 50 miles from the market.

The majority of producers attending Orton Farmers Market will come from within this area.

All of the produce on offer will have been grown, raised, caught or processed (using local ingredients) by the producer.

The producer or someone involved in production will be present at the stall and able to answer questions about the produce on offer, e.g. methods of production.

Everything served in the cafe soups, stews, sandwiches, paninis, salads and cakes & are made fresh in the kitchen using local ingredients. Breakfast is a vision of proper farmhouse cooking – hearty fry ups with potato cakes, sausage and bacon barms, local free-range eggs, organic porridge with cream & served with rich Italian coffee and pots of tea.

In spring, the Plant Centre is in full bloom and a delight to browse. Come summer, the pick-your-own fruit fields are open for harvesting. We grow acres of strawberries, raspberries, currants and much more and are one of the last surviving pick-your-own farms in the area. Kids will love the Easter Egg hunt, autumn maize maze and of course the most popular time of the whole year – our famous pumpkin-picking festival!

About us

The Mitchell family established Moseley Hall Farm on more than 400 acres of pristine Cheshire pasture lands.

For more than 65 years, the family have worked this land with a single goal; to bring you the freshest produce and meats with no complications.

Our philosophy of ‘fresh, local, and simple’ has guided The Lambing Shed and Moseley Hall Farm for more than six decades.

Our passion at The Lambing Shed is quality. We believe the best way to ensure quality is by utilising home grown and locally-sourced meats and produce. Although we do import some products for our store, most of what is found here at The Lambing Shed is produced right here in Cheshire.

We are proud of the fact that our family has farmed here at Moseley Hall Farm for so long. We are also thrilled to be able to share our passion for quality with our customers in The Lambing Shed. This is more than just a Mitchell family endeavour; it is a much larger effort that includes our family of customers, some of whom we have known for decades. We invite you to become a part of that family.
