About us

Uncle Henry’s is part of a family farming business, run by the Ward family. We are farmers with a passion for home reared, local and great tasting produce.

The story behind the farm shop started with a family friend of the owners, Meryl and Steve, by the name of Henry Wright.

Henry used to live in the house behind the farm shop & cafe. You can see the house from the outside courtyard. The Wright family farmed our farm for over 100 years when the Wards took on the farm operation in 1991.

Even though the two families were unrelated, Meryl and Steve’s children used to ask “Can we visit Uncle Henry’s” when they wanted to play at Henry’s house.

The name stuck and the out of the family’s fondness for their family friend, came the title for the Ward’s new business, Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop, Butchery & Cafe.

The couple went on to convert the derelict 19th Century limestone buildings on the farmlands next to Henry’s house, into the shop, butchery and cafe in September 2006. Since then, conference facilities have been added and the business has developed to become an educational resource for local schools.

Steve and Meryl’s son, Graham, now manages Uncle Henry’s. Steve runs the arable side of the business and Meryl looks after the pigs. Their two other children also work within the business, Emma, is in charge of the buying of products for the shop and ensuring health & safety standards throughout.  While Sam works on the farming side of the business. Emma, Graham and Sam are the fifth generation to work in the family business.

Our surrounding arable and pig farm is an integral part of Uncle Henry’s and provides our customers with a real ‘farm to fork’ experience.

Farming heritage combined with a love for great food, provenance and interest in the local community have come to create the Farm Shop, Butchery & Cafe you see today.

About us

Whites of Earls Barton (formerly Whites Nurseries) began as a small business established by Philip White in the 1940’s. He set up his business in a greenhouse behind the family home in West Street, Earls Barton, a village just outside Northampton.

In 2021, the business was expanded and the new development now includes a Farm Shop selling fruit and veg, with new butchers and deli, fresh flowers, dairy produce, local ales and cider, artisan drinks and wines, superb frozen meals and fish selection, local eggs, honey and ice cream, fresh bread, oils and preserves, logs, coal and kindling and much more.

A new Kitchen Café was also opened, where you can enjoy specialty coffee, refreshments, and sweet and savoury treats.

At the heart of everything we do is our produce. Wonderfully fresh from the field, beautifully tasty, competitively priced fruit and vegetables which are locally grown or produced wherever possible.

Our aim is to buy as much local produce as we can to support our county farms and English growers. We have daily deliveries which ensure that our customers receive the freshest quality. Using local growers helps reduce our carbon footprint, food miles and protect the precious environment in which we live.

Whites is also a trusted supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables, and other fresh produce to wholesale customers across Northamptonshire and surrounding areas.

At Whites, we also have an excellent showground which hosts an array of different events throughout the year; from Car and Bike Meetings to the Dr Frights Halloween Nights!

Welcome to the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop. We pride ourselves on offering produce fresh from the estate, Derbyshire suppliers and small food producers.

Established by the late Duchess of Devonshire in 1977, the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop sold beef, and lamb from the estate farms and venison from the park. Its aim was to sell Chatsworth’s produce direct to the people who wanted to eat top quality, locally grown food. Since then the estate farm shop has developed and diversified, growing from strength to strength to become an acknowledged leader in its field.

We are dedicated to protecting and nurturing the family run working farm heritage and so the philosophy remains today.

We aim to source primarily from the estate, secondly from tenant farms, thirdly from local food producers of Derbyshire and then from other quality suppliers within the UK wherever possible. Over 60% of products are produced or prepared on the Chatsworth Estate.

We pride ourselves on the highest level of customer service, staff knowledge and innovation, and invite you to come and discover the very best in own and local produce

Tucked away in the Norfolk Countryside our passion is sharing the very best our county has to offer, from the local produce sold in our Farm Shop, the accommodation we provide to allow others to explore the fine county of Norfolk, or the artisan cheese we have been making by hand on our farm since 2009.

The Goat Shed is our Farm shop located on our farm, less than 1 mile from the A47 at Honingham, set in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk Countryside.

About us

More than 60 years ago, we began to turn our family’s farmland into a business. Growing crops and working with local food producers, we provided them with an outlet to sell their wonderful goods.

What began as a simple passion for real food and a desire to feed our children better, has grown into Smiths Farm Shop, a family-run, ethical business with a real focus on sustainability and responsible farming.

As a family we started out growing strawberries, using an honesty box outside a gate in the summer of 1958, before moving onto potatoes in the winter. 

We also became one of the first UK farms to bring asparagus over from the eastern Mediterranean countries, helping to build on the popularity of the vegetable which is now readily available in most places now.

To ensure we supply a wide range of other products for our customers, we source British farmers from across the rest of the country who are leading specialists in their industry. This means our customers have direct access to the very best seasonal fruit and vegetables all year round.

These core values are at the heart of everything we do at Smiths Farm Shop.

Enjoy a variety of vibrant outdoor markets in Lincoln each week: Farmers’, Antiques and Makers’ markets through the year.

Meet local farmers and producers at Lincoln Farmers’ Market and sample some of the best food the region has to offer. The Farmers Market takes place on every 3rd Saturday of the month on Castle Hill. Opening times are 9am – 4pm.

Lincolns twice-monthly Makers Markets on Steep Hill and Cornhill showcase traditional and contemporary arts and crafts. Makers Markets are held every first Saturday of the month on Castle Hill and every second Saturday on Cornhill from March to December, making it the perfect place to find an original Christmas present or gift for that special someone.

The Antiques Market is held on Castle Hill on various Sundays each month with dozens of collectors and dealers in attendance offering unique goods. Open 10am – 4pm.

The Grindals have been farmers for as many generations as anyone can remember; having always sold produce at the farm gate, in 1995 they opened a farm shop….a real authentic farm shop.

Rare breed lamb, beef and pork as well as over 20 lines of fruit and vegetables grown on the farm are now for sale in the shop and restaurant.

Famous for its meat pies and cakes all made with farm produce and love. The farm shop stocks a wide range of items produced on site & locally wherever possible.

The Beer Barn is stocked full of locally made beers, wines & cider. The Farmhouse Kitchen serves traditional, home cooked food and lots of delicious cakes and treats as well as a traditional Sunday lunch.

From our own beef & lamb to fresh bread, pies & pastries, the farm shop sells a great variety of high quality, freshly made, locally sourced, seasonal food. We believe in supporting the British economy so you’ll find that 99% of our produce is British.

We supply our own free range eggs, dry cured bacon, sausages and burgers in addition to delicious seasonal vegetables from the fields around us.

Farndon Fields is a first generation family business founded by Kevin Stokes in 1983 when he ploughed the grass fields and planted the first potatoes at Farndon Fields Farm.

The farm shop started as a small venture in the farmhouse garage in 1985 and has grown over the past 35 years to become a large award winning farm shop. Farndon Fields now consists of a 550 acre arable farm, a farm shop with a large fresh produce area featuring our homegrown produce, a butchery, deli, production kitchen, the Farmer’s Kitchen (cafe/restaurant) and a gift and garden area.

Our mission is to work together to provide outstanding customer service and to inspire our customers by creating an exceptional food experience. We take pride in growing, cooking and serving top quality food that comes straight from the farm.
