Nestled in north Shropshire, bordering Cheshire and Wales, Alderford is a small family business, which has been owned by the Bebbington family for over 50 years.
The lake is surrounded by countryside with designated walks for visitors. We have a lakeside café that, like the Alder tree, provides shelter, warmth and comfort. It’s in here that we share our love for good homemade food and favourite Shropshire and Cheshire produce. We welcome wild swimmers and encourage customers with their own equipment to visit for canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
The water quality is very good and we attract all types of swimmers – from those trying wild swimming for the first time to triathletes. You can use our lake between our café opening hours, seven days a week, all year round.
We run many events through the year from outdoor theatre productions to car boot sales, maize maze, aquapark, bonfire night & much more.
Alderford lake provides a both a beautiful setting and a blank canvas for weddings and events. The parkland, trees and lake all create an impressive backdrop and as the light fades, we illuminate the lake and islands to create a magical evening atmosphere.
We are very proud to welcome Shropshire Wildlife Trust to Alderford. Shropshire Wildlife Trust protects the wildlife where you live. At Alderford they man the interactive pod to encourage young visitors to get a closer look at the natural world
