About us
Lotmead is a long standing dairy farm with an award winning PYO business. We specialise in Table Top strawberries (you don’t need to bend) with other soft fruits available such as raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants. A wide range of vegetables are also grown including potatoes which are dug up fresh for you by machine.
At Lotmead there are in addition small animals to visit, a woodland walk and you can even see the cows being milked. We have a shop full of local produce that serves teas, coffee and snacks. Throughout the summer we host special events at weekends which you will find on the website.
We are open seasonally from June until October 7 days a week. We remain closed during the winter except for the sale of Christmas Trees.
There is no entrance charge to visit the PYO and playground, but there is a small charge to visit the small animals, woodland walk and see the cows being milked.
One of the first Table Top PYO
Lotmead is principally a dairy farm milking 250 grass fed cows. You can see the cows and the milking when you visit our award winning PYO which started in 1983.
We were one of the first PYO farms to put strawberries on Table Tops so that means no bending! Grass paths between the Tables also give good access for wheelchairs and child buggies.
Other PYO Crops we are noted for are raspberries and potatoes (freshly dug for you by machine), but there are many more crops to pick yourself or find in the shop.
The shop stocks lots of local produce and serves snacks, teas and coffee. There is a large outside seating area adjacent to the playground so you can keep an eye on the children as you relax yourself.
Other Activities
Other activities include a woodland walk to our bird hide overlooking a wetland area and a host of small animals which you can visit. These include alpacas, goats, a donkey and Shetland pony, ducks, chicken, geese, pigs and sheep. The cows of course not so small and a bit smelly and can be seen in the milking parlour every afternoon from 3.30 until 5.00pm.
We are open 7 days a week from the end of May / beginning of June until October from 9.30 until 7.00pm. Crop availability and special events, particularly at weekends can be confirmed using our 24 information line on 01793 790137, or by accessing the website.
We are conveniently located just outside Swindonâ’s housing estate off Covingham close to bus route number 2, as well as the M4 (junction 15 and the A419.
There is no charge to enter the PYO and play area, but we do impose a small charge to visit the small animals, the woodland walk and the cows.

About us
We are family run and owned farm with farm shop and kitchen based in the village of Winsley between the City of Bath and Bradford on Avon. The Bowles family have been farming in the area for over 5 generations and now our farm is focused on producing and sourcing the best local food for our local community.
A Local Food Hub
Our farm is home to Aberdeen Angus cattle, Gloucester Old Spot pigs and free range hens. We are also joined by a number of other small enterprises that produce fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey and Ale making our farm a really enterprising, local food hub. Our focus on local food production and supporting our community has won us the Farmer’s Weekly Local Food Farmer of the Year Award in 2014.
Traceability right back to our own and local farms
Our farm shop and kitchen opened in 2008 and offers the very best produce from our farm and local food producers. We have a full carcass butchery with traceability right back to our own and local farms. As well as a fully stocked meat counter we also provide a range of meat boxes available to pre-order. We also have a deli counter offering our own homemade range of pies and pastries along with artisan cheeses from the local area and beyond. Our farm shop has won a Gold award for three consecutive years in the Taste of The West Awards as well as being crowned the best Farm Shop in the Bath Good Food Awards 2008. In 2014 we were crowned the Farmer’s Weekly Local Food Farmer of the Year as a reflection of our commitment and achievements in growing the local food and farming landscape in our community.
Our Kitchen makes the most of all our home-grown food on its doorstep with a great seasonal menu. Our specials board changes daily making the most of the seasons and what’s available from the farm that day, with our chefs creating dishes that are innovative whilst retaining their farm food comforts. Our talented baristas serve freshly ground seasonal coffee supplied by an artisan coffee company also based on the farm, the perfect compliment to our homemade cakes! All this hard work saw our cafe crowned the Best Cafe in Bath in the 2014 Bath Life awards too!
