Celebrating ‘Organic September’

Have you considered organic wine as part of your product range?

Vintage Roots bring the best organic wines to the UK, with its HQ and warehouse at a farm base in Hampshire, delivering all over the UK mainland.

It has a portfolio of over 500 organic wines, spirits and beers and a proactive sales team who travel the UK, working closely with farm shops, independent retailers, hotels, and restaurants to develop wine sales.

But if you are not an organic farm shop – is organic wine for you, you may ask?

‘Well, it certainly has a great connection with the soil – and very little with chemicals – and like our farm shops around the UK, there are many wine grape growers around the world who have provenance and sustainability at their heart, with great stories to tell’ said Neil Palmer, Co-Founder.  ‘Organic wine is also a growing sector in the UK marketplace – and most of our wines are also vegan friendly – which also supports the boom in plant-based diets.  We also have wines with no added sulphur, wines that raise money for charity, and many are award winning in the mainstream wine market competitions– for their quality overall.    In short, we deal only with wines that have the finest authentic quality but at price points for all.  Products we believe will enhance any shelves.’

‘We’ve been very successful in working alongside many well known and ‘destination’ farm shops around the UK’, Lance Pigott, Co-Founder added, ‘and advising on wines that complement the shop offer and price point, ideas on displays and prompts on marketing opportunities.   Whilst we are a wine importer and supplier, as one farm shop said to us ‘you are more like a trusted friend’.

‘As a supplier, we are aware that many farm shops have ‘miles’ in consideration when selecting their shop offering; whilst we import from around the world, we do have a strong commitment to our Environmental Policy in all aspects of our business and are happy to share details on this on request.’

‘So why not give us a try and let us show you our portfolio?  And if you are not licensed, and considering it as an opportunity, please still contact us; we are happy to chat through how other food retailers have benefited from becoming licensed and our support to them over the years.’

‘We reach out to you during Organic September – a month long campaign run by the Soil Association and as always during this period, we have special offers for our clients and for Farm Retail Association members who start trading with us by end of October, including a couple of promotion wines and reduced ‘first order’ size for FRA members .’

We look forward to hearing from you

Lance and Neil

Where it all began…

Vintage Roots was established over 35 years ago – and still has its founders Lance Pigott and Neil Palmer firmly at the helm of its business, which has grown substantially from its original ‘roots’ –  when they came back from a trip to France, having travelled around in an ageing but much loved Citroen plus maps and a tent, keen to discover organic vineyard owners who were eager to sell their wines in the UK.

That initial venture, working from the front room of a Reading based terraced house, with a hallway (and many other places!) becoming a cellar and storeroom, grew healthily and steadily to become the award-winning business it is today, weathering the storms of recessions, making careful and considered choices on the way ahead over the decades, and always remaining true to its core beliefs of bringing the best organic wines to the UK.
